these requirements, further examinations of the

internal surfaces shall be made at such intervals,

not exceeding 10 years, as the competent person

may specify.

A record signed by the Manager of the works or undertaking

showing, as nearly as can be ascertained, the date of construction

of the oldest lift of each gasholder, shall be kept.

Every gasholder on premises on which there is more than one

gasholder shall be marked in a prominent position with a

distinguishing number.

No repair or demolition of a gasholder shall be commenced

unless the work is under the immediate supervision of a person

who by his training and experience and knowledge of the necessary

precautions against risks of explosion or gassing is competent

to supervise such work.

Where such repair or demolition is not carried out by the

occupier of the premises but by an outside contractor the employer

of workmen engaged in such work shall observe the requirements of

this sub-section.

PROPOSED DEFINITIONS.

"Gasholder" means a receptacle for gas having a maximum storage

capacity of not less than 5,000 cubic feet.

"Gasholder Station" means any premises, other than premises

on which gas is manufactured, in which gas is stored in a gasholder.
